How do I join the CMRC?

There are 2 methods of joining CMRC:

1. Acquire the current year’s license application under the heading of MEMBER INFO. Fill out the application in full making sure to neatly fill in all mailing information, requesting racing numbers, and class. Be sure to sign the waiver on the reverse side (applicants under 18 require a Parent or Legal Guardian to sign the Parent Waiver & the Minor Participant Waiver). Mail the application along with a $120 cheque or money order (no cash) to the CMRC Head Office in Stouffville (a $30 Accidental Death & Dismemberment policy is included in the price).

CMRC Head Office
P.O. Box 1466, Stouffville,
Ontario, L4A 8A3
Tel – 905-642-5607
Fax – 905-640-4841
email: info@cmrcracing.com

Once the application has been received, CMRC will process it and return by mail your racing license, CMRC rulebook, CMRC stickers, and the respective regional schedule. All CMRC members receive the bi-monthly “MX Performance” included in the $120 annul fee.

2. You can also join at our next CMRC ATV event. If you choose this option you will still be able to race that day, but will have to compete with a temporary race number. Racers under 18 years require a Parent or Legal Guardian to sign the Parent Waiver and the Minor Participant Waiver before being permitted to race. We will then forward your application with your payment of $120 to the CMRC’s Head Office. You will receive by mail your racing license, CMRC rulebook, CMRC stickers, and the respective regional schedule. Included in the annual fee you will also receive the bi-monthly “MX Performance” magazine.

How do I get a racing number?

CMRC does not reserve numbers. Instead numbers are assigned once the license application is received. On the application you will find 5 spaces for requested numbers. Indicate the number(s) requested and the number will be assigned if available. Numbers are not assigned at the track. You can call CMRC’s Head Office to inquire if a number is available, but it won’t be reserved nor assigned until the application is received.

How do you assign numbers?

If the number in any class in your group has been assigned, it is no longer available even if the assignee does not compete in your class.

Amateur numbers range from 11 to 999 in each group. Pro class numbers are assigned from 1 to 50 determined by the final standings of the national championships. An Intermediate rider can have a number from 11 to 50 providing there is no Pro in that region that has that nationally assigned number.

What region am I?

We are Region 37 Ontario ATV. Please indicate that on your membership application.

What equipment requirements are there to start racing?

The minimum requirements to start racing are an approved helmet, goggles, long sleeve jersey or shirt, gloves, long pants, and boots with ankle protection. CMRC recommends that proper motocross equipment be acquired if you decide to compete on a regular basis. These pieces of equipment an approved helmet, goggles, motocross jersey with elbow and shoulder padding, kidney belt, motocross pants with hip and knee pads, front and back chest protector, and motocross boots with ankle protection. Knee braces and neck protector are optional but are highly recommended for riders that have knee problems or for taking preventative measures.

How much will it cost when I go to a race?

The first cost you will incur is gate admission and camping fees. The gate admission for adults and children over 5 years of age is $12 per person per event (Each race day is considered one event), and children 5 years of age and younger are free. Each person with you, racing or not racing, is required to pay gate admission, in which you will be given a wristband for each person to wear. This must be worn at all times during the event. Camping fees are $20 per vehicle per weekend. All camping fees are collected at the gate regardless of whether you are camping. If you are not staying camping fees will be refunded when you leave.

The next cost is your entry fee. Classes 14 and up cost $45 for first class, $35 for second class, and $25 for third class. Age limited classes are $45 for first class, $25 for second class and $20 for third class. You are allowed to enter a maximum of three classes per day. If there is a “doubleheader,” meaning two races on the same weekend on the same track, you will be required to pay an entry fee again on the second day’s racing. Please note that on July 1, 2010 the HST will be in effect and prices will change to reflect the tax.

What do I do when I get to my first race?

The first suggestion would be to arrive at the track early. Usually, registration begins at 6:45am and ends at 7:55am. Pre-registration is advisable as the registration line in the morning tends to be quite long. Go to the registration area, which is located at the “White Bus,” get a race entry form, complete the required information, sign the release on the back then take it to sign in. Be sure to have your current CMRC racing license available to present. When signing in, present your forms, pay the appropriate fee for the class(es) you have entered, and sign the release waiver. You are now in! You will receive a racers wristband and the race day practice order and race order schedule. Be sure to wear your wristband at all times or you will not be permitted to race. You MUST attend the rider’s meeting at every event for special instructions pertaining to the track, explaining the flags, practice order, etc. When the rider’s meeting is finished go directly back to your pit area and prepare to go to practice. You must attend practice to race. Always listen to the announcements to ensure that you won’t be late or miss your moto. We usually keep you updated on the class that is on the track, on the line and in staging. It is your responsibility to know when your race is up and to be in staging.

Do I have to attend riders meeting?

Yes. Rider’s meeting is mandatory 8am. sharp. Here you will receive special instructions pertaining to the track and races, explanation of the flags, weather conditions, changes of the schedule and other upcoming news and events.

Which class can I sign up for?

Go to MEMBER INFO on our web-site and you can download the ATV rules from that page. It will describe the age restrictions and quad classifications.

How many classes can I sign up for?

The classes are designed where everyone can ride a minimum of two classes. Every class has two motos, and if you sign up for two classes you will race four motos for the day. Go to MEMBER INFO on our web-site and you can download the ATV rules from that page. It will describe the age restrictions and quad classifications.

If you’re not sure, send us an e-mail at info@cmrcatv.com or on race day make sure you come early to sign in for answers to your questions.

Do I have to race every weekend?

No you do not. You can pick and choose any race or series in which you wish to compete. If you choose to participate in a series, you acquire points for each moto you race. The moto results are combined for your overall finish for the day, with the total points added to your series points. If you miss a race you simply do not acquire series points. All series standings list the rider that has the most accumulated points then descends to the rider(s) with the fewest points.

What is the Canada Cup ATV Amateur National?

This is a national series where racers from all over Canada and the USA can come to compete and be crowned as Canada’s Best ATV Racer.

What is ATV Pro/Am?

Pro/Am is a class which is a mixture of intermediate and pro riders. This class provides an opportunity for you to race with other racers not necessarily in your class. This is a great second class!

What is ATV Open Sport?

Open Sport is a great second class for every adult/youth racer that is not an intermediate or pro. This class is open to non-production ATVs with no displacement rules making it a class for not only any ATV to enter, but it allows different racers with different racing experience to race with others outside of their class.

When do I pick up my medals/trophies?

At the end of the race day. Please give the ladies in the bus 30 minutes after the last race to finalize all classes. The medal/trophy process may take some time as there are only two of us handing out all trophies/medals, so please be patient as we try our best to go as quickly as possible.

At the end of the year there is a banquet where the top 5 in each class will receive their trophies for the Provincial Series and the top 3 will receive their trophies for the Fall Series which begins July 1st and ends with the last race in September 2010. The top 3 in the Royal Distributing Mini Series will also receive their awards at the banquet. The banquet is usually held in November to celebrate the end of the season.

Awards for Rider of the Year (both male and female), Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, Track of the Year and Industry Recognition Award are given out at the banquet.

The trophies for the Canada Cup ATV Amateur National are awarded at the last race. The names of the champions are engraved and added to the Canada Cup which is on display at the banquet.

What do I get if I don’t come in 1st, 2nd or 3rd?

If you are in any of the 14 and over classes you will only receive a medal/trophy at the end of the race weekend if you come in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.

If you are in any of the Mini classes and you do not finish 1st, 2nd, or 3rd you will receive a racers recognition dog tag award. These awards are highly anticipated by our racers as they are unique to our mini racers only.

All racers regardless of age will receive the Hole Shot award. The hole shot is called by the Referee at the start of each race and their decision is final.

ATV Races:

The CMRC ATV Ontario Provincial Series begins rounds 1 and 2 of its 18 round season on May 22nd and 23rd. The racers will compete on a dirt track with a variety of jumps, whoops and turns as they set out to earn the 1st Place title in their class. There is a practice and two motos for each class on each day of the event. Spectators attending this event will be thrilled when they see the pro racers clear a 75ft double and cheer as the side-by-sides race on a motocross track.

Royal Distributing Mini Series:

This series is sponsored by Royal Distributing and is for the Mini Classes only. It too begins May 22nd and 23rd and there are a total of 10 rounds finishing in September. This is a fantastic opportunity for the mini kids to get additional riding time in which they can improve their riding skills. After the mini classes have completed their two motos for the provincial race a third moto will be run on the mini track for these racers. Each racer is awarded points based on their standings and these points are added throughout the series. The racer with the most points comes in 1st in the series. The top 3 positions will receive trophies not only throughout the series but also at the yearend banquet.

Quad Cross:

On May 24th there will be a Quad Cross for all ATV enthusiasts. Starting in the morning this timed event will take you into the bush and woods, along fire roads and through fields and no one knows if Mother Nature will throw in a little water with that. There will be two classes competing for prizes and trophies – Quad Cross Amateur and Quad Cross Master. No CMRC license required to enter this race. Bring your quad, full safety equipment, water bottle and your excitement for a great day.
